Hey ya'll! I arrived in Alaska last night around 11pm.


Talk about darkness!!!

I get up at 7:30am and it's still pitch dark out.

Come 9:30am it starts to get lighter out. Something to adjust to!

What to do, what to do

L-R Cypress, Maple, Barkley, Cedar, Possum, Bamboo, Oakleigh. In the back L-R are Aspen (husky colored one) and Sierra. The black dog is our pet Macy :)



Puppies are doing great and growing up pretty rapidly. Ready to leave soon. Will be sad. Love these puppies. Wish I could have all the puppies in the world! Keeping Aspen, Cyphress, and Bamboo.


 

Good ol' Pennsylvania

Hey ya'll....

So.. today.. the 16th of September and its been 22 days since I've been in Alaska and to say at the least.. it's KILLING me.

Days 14 and 15 - Had a great time!

August 24th- day 14 :'(

I really do not want to go home. This sucks! However, I had the most enjoyable time ever working at Ididaride. Hooking up dogs a dozen times a day, scooping dogs, feeding and watering dogs, talking to some cool people, working with the most interesting crew, staying with the worlds most amazing family. I could not have done this without Dan and Shirley Seavey. They offered me to stay with them so I could have the opportunity to come back up. Which I thank them so much. They are wonderful people and have such a wonderful family. I'll miss those "cottonpickin'" sayin's he uses and watching F Troop and Abbott and Costello with him. I really miss Shirley's cooking and baking. Drinking their such strong coffee will always be a memory. I had so much fun. It was by far one of my best nights there.

August 25th - day 15 :"(

Most horrible day of my life. Do not want to go home. Why do I have to come home? This IS home. Home is in Alaska. *sigh*. Eating my first bites of burritos, moose meat, veggie stir fry when I don't like veggies, yummy mice (halibut), I could go on. This was by far the best experience of my life so far. I hope to be back this winter to race Jr. Iditarod. If I don't, I can't come back until next summer which would break my heart so much. So.. I WILL be back in the winter to train. Again.. all thanks goes to the Seavey family, for being such amazing people.


I arrived home around 12:30pm Sunday, August 26th. Times are tough now.. the time difference sucks. I miss my friends. Bright side? Puppies.

Hugo - The dog that started my adventure in life. I got a golden retriever puppy for Christmas the year Snow Buddies came out. I later had a litter of golden retriever, black lab and norwegian elkhound mix puppies, who later had puppies to an alaskan husky/siberian husky, whose puppy later had puppies to a dog we bought. Nine puppies! Thank you Hugo!

Days 12 and 13

August 22nd and 23 - Days 12 and 13

Wednesday the 22nd, long day at work! Had some halibut? or bean pasta for dinner :D Then biked to Safeway for some powdered sugar and then went to the beach. Very neat and very cold water. Very cold.
